Easy Zig Zag Ponytail | Q's Hairdos

Adding a cute zig zag part line makes this simple ponytail a bit more fun. I used to do zig zag parts on myself as a little girl and on my sisters when they were little. What girl doesn't like a little fun added to their hair? Follow these tips for an easy zig zagged ponytail.

  1. With slightly damp hair use a comb starting in the middle.
  2. Without lifting the comb off of the head, move it in a zig zag movement towards the back of the crown.
  3. When you reach the back, slowly pull the comb upwards.
  4. Grab the hair on the left side of the comb and pull it towards the left side of the head to split the hair.
  5. If part of the zig zag didn't go as you wanted it, just start at that point and repeat.
  6. Carefully comb the hair to either side.
  7. On the right side of the head, part off the crown section. About 3 inches wide.
  8. Secure with an elastic in the back corner.
  9. Use spray gel )linked below) to tame any fly aways.
  10. Repeat on the left side securing with an elastic in the back corner.
  11. Brush the rest of the hair into a ponytail in the desired location.
  12. Secure with an elastic, leaving out the two small ponies.
  13. Split the right ponytail in half.
  14. Use spray gel and water to tame fly aways before twisting the hair.
  15. Twist each section to the right and cross to the left.
  16. Continue twisting to the right and crossing to the left until you reach the main ponytail.
  17. Clip the rope braid to the ponytail while repeating the rope braid on the left side.
  18. Split in half.
  19. Twist to the right and cross to the left.
  20. Secure both rope braids to the ponytail with an elastic.
  21. If desired, curl the ponytail.
  22. Add a bow!
