- Start with a center part, slightly damp hair sprayed with spray gel (linked below.)
- On the right side of the head, take a 1 inch diagonal parting and split into two.
- Cross the front piece over top of the back piece.
- Add a one inch section to the new front piece and then cross over top of the back piece.
- Continue adding hair to the front piece then crossing over the back piece.
- I like to keep the rope braid sitting high, so leave about 2 inches of hair covering the ear.
- When you reach the back of the crown section, simply twist the strands to the right and cross to the left.
- Continue twisting and crossing until there is about 5 inches of a rope twist.
- Clip out of the way.
- Now repeat on the left side.
- Remember that we will be crossing the front piece over top of the back piece.
- So it will feel opposite than the other side.
- Continue to add 1 inch sections of hair then crossing over top of the back.
- When you reach the back of the crown section, add a rope twist by twisting to the left and crossing to the right.
- Once the rope twists are complete you will simply add an elastic at the desired location in the back of the head.
- Then add a bow! This one is from labelle baby (linked below)
Style 2: Rope Braids into High Pony
- Start with the first style completed.
- Move the rope braid out of the way.
- Secure the remaining hair into a high ponytail, just behind the rope braids.
- Secure it with an elastic, then add in the rope braid with another elastic.
- Take out the elastic from the rope braid very carefully, or use scissors or a seam ripper to cut it out.
- If desired, and if you have extra time, curl the ponytail. We used a 1 inch marcel wand here. (linked below)
Style 3: Rope Braids into a Messy Bun
- Start with the first style completed, but you may want to rope braid the ends a little longer depending on where you want the messy bun to sit.
- Secure the remaining hair including the rope braids into a low ponytail with an elastic.
- Now add our signature messy bun.
- Take two elastics and twist them around once.
- Keep the elastic on your fingers and split the hair into two.
- Curl the top half up and hold with your finger.
- Curl the bottom half down and hold with your thumb.
- Pull the remaining elastic over top of the buns.
- Curl the ends back into the elastic and pull through.
- If the hair is long you may need to put the ends back through the elastic again.
- Repeat until all the ends are through.
- Find a more detailed explanation of our messy bun at the link below.
