How to Dutch Lace and French Lace Braid | Q's Hairdos

Learning simple braids like the lace braid is a great way to up your cute hairstyles. These lace braids can be added to so many other styles. Practice makes perfect!

Dutch Lace Braid:

1. Starting with damp hair and a deep side part take a one inch section in the front next to the part line.
2. Split into three
3. Begin a Dutch braid by crossing the sides underneath the middle strand.
4. Cross the left strand under the middle again.
5. Here is where the lace braid begins, add a section of hair to the right strand
6. Cross under the middle
7. Cross the left under the middle (do not add a section)
8. Add a section to the right strand
9. Cross the left under the middle
10. These are the steps that you will repeat all the way around to the other ear.
11. Smooth out the front section as you go. I like to use this brush which I will link in the description below.
12. A tip is to keep your hands close to the head and angle down towards the opposite ear
13. When you reach the opposite ear, secure the braid with an elastic.
14. Add our signature messy bun. You can see a slower tutorial for that at the link below.
15. Split the ponytail in half, curl the ends and pull the elastic over the top.
16. Curl and tuck the ends back into the elastic.

French Lace Braid:

1. Split into three
2. Begin a French braid by crossing the sides over top of the middle strand.
3. Cross the left over the middle again
4. Begin the lace braid by adding a section of hair to the right strand
5. Do not add a section to the left side simply cross over top of the middle
6. Add a section to the right strand and cross over the middle
7. Cross the left over the middle
8. Continue these steps until you reach the other ear.
9. Secure with an elastic and add a three strand braid to the end.
