Patriotic Hairstyle: Mini Star with Pigtails | Q's Hairdos

I love this adorable hairstyle for the 4th of July or any time you want something a little more fancy! This style took us about 15 minutes and it was inspired by Becky at Wispy Princess (www.instagram.com/wispyprincess). The star may look complicated, but it's really pretty simple. Just follow along!

When wearing elastic styles like this, always be sure to use sunscreen on the part lines! What will you be doing for the 4th of July? We love to attend the kid parade and have a BBQ. Maybe go to the lake! Hope you all have a wonderful Independence Day!

Want more star hairstyle inspiration? Watch these tutorials also:
  1. Start with the center crown section parted off and clip out of the way.
  2. Split the hair down the center back to form pigtails.
  3. Secure each pigtail with an elastic.
  4. Add water and spray gel if needed to tame the fly aways (I will link the gel below)
  5. Take the hair in the crown that we clipped out of the way.
  6. Section off about and inch wide section perpendicular to the face.
  7. Secure this long section with an elastic in the middle of the section.
  8. Part off the next section about an inch wide, this time splitting it into two.
  9. Secure each section with an elastic on the outside of the section.
  10. Take the remaining hair and split it into two square sections.
  11. Secure with an elastic in the middle of the sections.
  12. Add more water and spray gel to tame fly aways.
  13. Split the front pony in half and twist each section.
  14. Clip each half to the bottom pony on each side.
  15. The left half to the left side and the right half to the right side.
  16. Take the middle pony on the left side and split in half.
  17. Twist each section and clip the left section to the bottom pony on the right side.
  18. Secure the right section to the middle pony on the right side.
  19. Now twist that middle pony on the right and secure to the bottom pony on the left.
  20. Secure the clipped ponies to the bottom pony on the right side.
  21. The star is finished!
  22. We decided to braid the ponies with a simple three strand braid and then secure each one to the pigtail below it.
  23. We curled the pigtails with a curling wand which I will link below.
  24. Take one inch sections and holding the wand upside down, you will wrap the hair around the wand and hold for 5-10 seconds.
  25. Add some bows like these cute ones from www.labellebabybows.etsy.com!

4th of July Patriotic Style

We're getting so excited to celebrate Independence Day next week! I love dressing all of us in red, white, and blue so I thought I would share what we will be wearing. I also linked some favorites I found while searching for our outfits! The best part? Most of the items I picked ship from Target in two days so you can get your festive outfits in time! They will ship for free if you have a red card... which I highly recommend getting it's just a debit card that takes straight from your bank account! Not sponsored... I just love Target and two day shipping :D who doesn't? I also picked a few cute outfits on Amazon you can find that list below!

I will be wearing my current favorite dress from Plain Jane. These dresses are so comfy and work for maternity, although they are non-maternity dresses. Plain Jane also has THE cutest patriotic dresses for girls right now. If I could buy them all I would!

If I didn't already have my Plain Jane dress, I would definitely consider this one from Target or this from Old Navy! I just love a comfy and cool dress during the summer. I live in dresses during the heat especially when I'm pregnant! There is nothing more comfortable than a jersey knit dress.

The girls red dresses that they will be wearing are from Target and are just too cute with the small stars. I couldn't help myself when I saw these star shaped sunglasses to go with! Of course they will be wearing bows from either www.labellebabybows.etsy.com or www.etsy.com/shop/novarosiehandmade I can't quite decide :) Check out some of the cute accessories I linked below!

We hope you have a safe and Happy Fourth of July! Quincy claims that fireworks are her favorite part... but when she was Lucy's age that was definitely NOT the case. Read a funny story about our 4th of July in NYC here. Comment your favorite part of the holiday below!
