Matching Messy Buns | Q's Hairdos

Quincy loves to match right now, so I am taking full advantage. We love this mommy and me style. This is one of my go to styles when I am in a hurry. It only takes me 5 minutes and I always get compliments on it which makes me laugh because it's so simple! I love this style on Quincy as well, her small rope twist makes it fun too!

I start with a little of my favorite dry shampoo by Amika (buy here: Dry Shampoo: http://amzn.to/2vcSlpR or http://amzn.to/2uT41Ly)

  1. Take a one inch section at the part line and split in half.
  2. Cross the front piece over top of the back piece.
  3. Add a one inch section to the back section.
  4. Cross the front piece over top of the back.
  5. Add a one inch section to the back section.
  6. Repeat this three more times.
  7. Twist each piece to the left and cross to the right to the end.
  8. Clip the rope braid out of the way.
  9. Pull the rest of the hair to the desired location and add in the rope braid.
  10. Now add our signature messy bun.
  11. Wrap the pony tail with the elastic until the last time, keeping the elastic on your fingers.
  12. Split the pony in half.
  13. Curl the top half up and hold with your finger.
  14. Curl the bottom half down and hold with your thumb.
  15. Now pull the elastic over the top and tuck the ends back in to form the bun.
  16. Loosen the rope braid by pulling at each section (for a more detailed explanation of our messy bun, you can watch here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AzNotxlL-_4)

For Quincy I started with damp hair in the crown section. And repeat the exact same steps.
  10. Loosen the rope braid by pulling at each section.
  11. Now add our signature messy bun.
  12. Wrap the pony tail with the elastic until the last time, keeping the elastic on your fingers.
  13. Split the pony in half.
  14. Curl the top half up and hold with your finger.
  15. Curl the bottom half down and hold with your thumb.
  16. Now pull the elastic over the top and tuck the ends back in to form the bun.
  17. Add a bow.
