2 Ways Faux Fishtail Messy Bun or Ponytail | Q's Hairdos

Both of these styles are great for sports and summer! The faux fishtail ponytail transitions very easily into the messy bun. This style took us about 10 minutes. When adding the messy bun, it may take an additional few minutes until you get the hang of it. 1. Start with a center part and slightly damp hair in the crown section.
2. Part the hair from the back of the center part down to the ear.
3. Secure this section in the back middle of the section with an elastic.
4. Repeat on the opposite side from the center part down to the ear.
5. Secure with an elastic.
6. Secure the rest of the hair into a low ponytail leaving out the previous two ponies.
7. Taking the Topsy Tail Tool (I will link below)
8. Stick the pointed end down through the ponytail.
9. Put the ponytail through the loop and pull downwards.
10. Repeat on the opposite side.
11. Taking the right pony, add an elastic about two inches down from the first elastic.
12. Put two fingers through the back of this section between the two elastics. 
13. Grab the ponytail with those fingers and pull it through the center of the elastics creating a faux fishtail look.
14. Pull and adjust the hair between the elastics for desired look.
15. Repeat another time by adding an elastic a few inches down.
16. Put two fingers through and pull the ponytail through the center.
17. Adjust the hair in the faux fishtail.
18. Repeat on the left ponytail with two more elastics adding two more faux fishtails.
19. Secure both ponytails to the main ponytail with an elastic.
20. Here is where you can simply add a bow, curl the ponytail or even add a braid.

Or you can add our signature messy bun by

1. Take another elastic- or I like to double up my elastics for Quincy's thicker hair.
2. Wrap the elastic around the hair once or twice.
3. Keep the elastic on your fingers while splitting the hair in half with the other hand.
4. Curl the top half of the hair upwards and hold with a finger.
5. Curl the bottom of the hair downwards and hold with your thumb.
6. Take the elastic that was left on your fingers and pull over top of the hair then let go.
7. Adjust the two buns that were made.
8. Now take the ends and curl them back around sticking them back into the elastic.
9. If the hair is long like Quincy's, you may need to tuck the hair in another time.
